This is the very first panda coin ever released, prior to the gold panda release in fall 1982. There's some major differences between this coin compared to medals distributed at the 1982 World Fair. Also included / unadvertised, will be 4 different PRC concept panda die designs, each individual presentation pieces stamped by PRC in 1982.
Details of the "specimen proof" 1982 panda coin. It was privately issued to PRC officials as a sample specimen. 2 Struck prior to business strike, making this the very first official panda. 4 Special Surfaces - compared to the business strike made of brass, these are gilt with gold surfaces. 5 Special Proof Die with proof details.7 Attributed as an official "PRC" coin. Details of the "business strike" 1982 fair medals. 1 All were issued directly at show through the PRC booth at the 1982 World's Fair. 2 For promotion, most were engraved with the recipient's name &/or initials (if it's original / not engraved, it should simply state the year & the fair). Examples with names / initials hold no value. It's estimated only a handful of mint state originals exist (without a name / initials). If you collect US coins, whenever there's special dies &/or special surfaces used.. These US coins are all incredibly valuable. We certainly aren't stating this panda is worth millions, but we haven't found anything like this out of the panda series before. As rare of a panda you'll ever find.
